More than 200 Chinese companies are listed on U.S. exchanges, and hundreds more trade on over-the-counter bulletin boards. In the last five months, at least 15 have upgraded to a Big Four auditor — Deloitte, Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers or KPMG — from a smaller firm, according to an analysis from Audit Analytics.
The Securities Appellate Tribunal today adjourned the hearing in the PriceWaterhouseCoopers-Sebi case to March 15, a company official said. The matter came before SAT yesterday. Company secretaries’ body ICSI today said it has signed an agreement with United Stock Exchange of India (USE) for exchange of information, consultation and co-operation. Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the two organisations will share research materials, publications, educational literature, demonstration material and information with each other, Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) said in a statement.

Mumbai- A woman Chartered Accountant allegedly jumped to death from the 19th floor of a residential building along with her son and a daughter in suburban Malad, leaving a suicide note in which she said that nobody was responsible for the extreme step, police said. The bodies of Nidhi Pawan Gupta (30), her son Gaurav (6) and daughter Mahika (3) were taken to nearby civic run Bhagwati hospital for post mortem, police said.

THE Malaysian Institute of Accountants wants the public and authorities to stop blaming auditors whenever a company collapses. Malaysian Institute of Accountants president Abdul Rahim Abdul Hamid said the trend right now is that when a company face financial problems, the public and authorities automatically point their fingers at some of the country’s 27,000 registered accountants.
Accounting regulator ICAI has formed an advisory committee of chartered accountants to help corporates identify social sector projects on which they would be required to spend two% of their net profit. The Public Advisory Committee, of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), has been set up with the view to protect public interest, said the newly-appointed ICAI President G Ramaswamy.
