Taking a strong note of State Bank of India’s huge profit erosion for March quarter due to higher provisions, accounting regulator ICAI on Friday said it would send a letter asking the country’s largest lender to explain the reasons for higher provisions for bad loans.

Pursuant to Hon’ble Court’s orders dated the 19.04.2011, Official Liquidator attached to the High Court of Delhi, invite bio data/Applications from qualified and desirous Chartered Accountants, who arc enrolled as Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and in active practice for at least 03 years and are interested to be empanelled for the Official Liquidator as Auditors in the Companies under liquidation. The applicants who are interested may submit their bio-data/application inter alia stating (i) the details of income during the last 3 years. (ii) Furnish recommendations of two practicing Chartered Accountants having atleast 10 years practice, (iii) no disciplinary proceedings are pending.
The process of organizing the 11th ICSI National Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance 2011 which was instituted in the year 2001 by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India has commenced. The Award aims to identify corporates which best establish and follow good corporate governance norms in letter and spirit. The award is based on the outcome of concerted and comprehensive process which includes the evaluation of responses of the participating companies to questionnaires designed by the Institute.
The Convocation for the newly enrolled Members admitted during the period September, 2010 to February, 2011 will be held as per schedule given below with a view to inculcate a sense of belongingness and attachment with the Institute.
1.Applicant should be a Partnership Firm with minimum of 2 partners. 2. The allocation of branches to the Auditors will be purely the prerogative of the Bank. 3. The Concurrent Audit firm should furnish the name and qualification of the persons, who would be conducting the audit before commencing audit assignment and such persons will have to continue audit for all the months.
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is seeking proposals from Audit firms with extensive audit experience to conduct Management Audit (II Phase) of its Khadi Institutions across India. I am happy to share with you a very significant development regarding the profession. In my last month’s communiqué I had informed you that other issues concerning our profession as recommended by the Expert Group will be implemented shortly. You may be aware that the basic tenet of the recommendations of the Expert Group was maintenance of principle based cost accounting records. The Expert Group had also recommended that instead of individual product/industry based cost accounting records, the Government should adopt principle based uniform cost accounting record rules. I am extremely happy to inform our members that the Central Government has now issued Companies (Cost Accounting Records) Rules 2011 vide notification dated 3rd June 2011.
