Creating a record in its placement history, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has placed three of its candidates at a record salary of close to Rs 70 lakh with Singapore-based Olam International. This is the highest ever salary offered to fresh CAs recruited from the ICAI campus, the apex body that conducts the CA examination and places the successful candidates every year. Earlier, a record salary of Rs 38.25 lakh was offered in 2007.

Government on Thursday said it has prosecuted over 13,000 companies during the three years ending 2008-09 for not following the provisions of the Companies Act. “As many as 13,437 companies were prosecuted for non-compliance of provisions of the Companies Act, 1956, during the last three years–2006-07 to 2008-09,” Corporate Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid told the Lok Sabha.

With high paced growth in industrial sector, India will need at least 50,000 company secretaries (CS) by 2020, Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) said on Sunday. According to data released by ICSI, there has been over 70% growth in students enrolment for CS programme in last few years.
