In respect of Notification No.32(RE-2001)/1997-2002 dated the 12th October,2001, extending the shipment period for export of onions released vide Notification No. 16(RE-2001)/1997-2002 dated 26th June,2001 and Notification No. 20( RE-2001)/1997-2002 dated 27th July, 2001 upto 15th October,2001, it has been decided to further extend the shipment period for export of the unutilized balance quantity of the onion, if any, out of the 1,00,000 Metric tones released for export vide Notification No.16(RE-2001)/1997-2002 dated the 26th June,2001 and Notification No. 20( RE-2001)/1997-2002 dated 27th July, 2001 upto 31st October, 2001.

The regional offices of the DGFT are hereby requested to settle all their audit objections requiring the surrender of SIL (which is now defunct) as per the aforesaid decision of the Policy Review Committee. On receipt of a request from the EOU/ EOZ units for refund of the excise duty paid by them on procurement of bulk tea from the auction centres, the office of the DGFT issued a Notification No 36 dated 01.12.1999. The said Notification permitted the Development Commissioner of the respective zone to re-imburse the Central Excise Duty paid on bulk tea procured from the licenced auction centres by the EOU/ EPZ units.
In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No.22 of 1992) read with paragraphs 1.3 and 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002 (incorporating amendments made up to 31.3.2001), the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import items, 1997-2002 (incorporating amendments made up to 31 August, 1998) and as amended from time to time.
Notification No. 34 (RE-2001) amends Exim Code for copra and crude oil imports, regulating through STC with conditions under the Export and Import Policy (2001).
In exercise of powers conferred under paragraph 4.11. of the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby announces All Industry rate of duty drawback of Rs.850/- per M.T. for furnance oil supplied by domestic oil companies to EOU/EPZs under deemed export scheme as contained in Chapter 10 of the EXIM Policy for the period ending 31.3.2002.
In continuation of Notification No.20 (RE-2001)/1997-2002 dated the 27th July, 2001 releasing a specified quota of onion for export, the following additions shall be made against the Code No.0703 (1) in Table B of Schedule 2 of the said ITC (HS) relating to “onions (all varieties other than Bangalore Rose onion and Krishnapuram onions)” under the column ‘ nature of restriction.
Clarifications have been sought, whether the condition of registration of import contract on import of katha from Nepal as stipulated in the aforementioned public notice are still applicable. In this regard, it is clarified that since quantitative restrictions on import of katha have already been removed, the public notice no. 45-ITC (PN)/81 dated 05.09.1981 is no more in operation.
