The Hon’ble Deputy CM and Finance Minister in his Budget Speech on 26th March 2012, declared to levy tax on the sales of Furnishing Cloth at the last point of sale. To give effect to this declaration, the Government has issued above referred 4 notifications. As a result of issuance of notifications cited at Ref. (3) and (4), the sales of the Furnishing Cloth notified under entry 101 of Schedule “C” of MVAT Act are taxable @ 5% with effect from tat September 2012.

If the final tax liability of the contractor or sub-contractor is less or nil as the case may be than the tax deduction made u/s 27, then such contractor or sub-contractor must move an application u/s 27(10) to seek Nil or lower rate of tax deduction certificate and in such case granting of NIL/Lower rate of tax deduction certificate will be justified.
The Department of Sales Tax, Maharashtra State has declared the List of Suspicious Dealers who has issued false bills without delivery of goods on their website http://mahavat.gov.in in Excel 2007 file containing 698 names firstly.
