The ministry of corporate affairs, vide notification dated 29 March 2016, has issued the Companies (Auditor’s Report) Order, 2016 which will be applicable from financial years commencing on or after 1 April 2015. ICAI, has clarified that the applicability of this section on fraud reporting is applicable only to the statutory auditors of the company, the cost accountant in practice, conducting cost audit under section 148 of the Act; and to the company secretary in practice, conducting secretarial audit under Section 204 of the Act. It shall also extend to a branch auditor appointed under Section 139 ‘to the extent it relates to the concerned branch’.
