Government increases existing limit of the Employees Deposit Linked Insurance amount from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1,00,000

The government has increased the existing limit of the Employees Deposit Linked Insurance amount from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1,00,000. The amount will be paid to the next of kin of an employee in case of his death. In a notification issued on June 18, the government in the newly modifed Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance (Amendment) Scheme, 2010, said the benefits will be for employees of both the public and private sector.

Net direct tax collections during first quarters of the present fiscal (up to June 2010) stood at Rs.68,675 crore, up from Rs.59,465 crore in the same period last fiscal, registering a growth of 15.49 percent. Growth in Corporate Taxes was 21.65 percent (Rs.43,439 crore as against Rs.35,709 crore), while Personal Income Tax (including STT, and residual FBT and BCTT) grew at 1.24 percent (Rs.24,075 crore as against Rs.23,780 crore).

I am directed to say that in a meeting held in Department of Commerce with FTWZ Developers doubts were raised as to whether units in FTWZ can hold goods on behalf of foreign buyer, DTA supplier and buyer. 2. It is clarified that FTWZ units can hold goods on behalf of foreign supplier and buyer and DTA supplier and buyer as well, subject to fulfillment of provisions made in Rule 18(5) of SEZ Rules, 2006.

In view of Customs readiness to accept online transmission of DES(Advance Authorization), EPCG and DEPB authorization at the following 33 ICES 1.5 new locations, all RAs of DGFT may note that for all the newly added ports, aforesaid authorizations issued w.e.f. 10.7.2010, will be communicated online to customs for necessary processing at their end.
