There have been several representations from consumer associations and policyholders for enabling portability of health insurance policies from one insurer to other insurer. Persons shifting from one region to other regions are many times put to disadvantage due to lack of insurers’ office providing necessary policy servicing at the new location. Further, employees shifting from one organization to another organization many times lose health insurance cover due to lack of portability of the health insurance policies. It is essential to protect the policyholders against discontinuity and consequential loss of Pre Existing Diseases (PED) cover by making the health insurance plans portable across the insurance companies. The portability will also ensure that the policyholder is not tied to one single insurer throughout his life for fear of losing the cover of PED.
In the said notification, in the TABLE, in the column (3), for the words “within three months” wherever they occur, the words “within six months” shall be substituted.
INSTRUCTION NO. 2/2011 The issue of processing of returns for Asst. year 2010-11 and giving credit for TDS has been considered by the Board. In order to clear the backlog of returns, the following decisions have been taken: (i) In all returns (ITR-1 to ITR-6), where the difference between the TDS claim and matching TDS amount reported in AS-26 data does not exceed Rs. 1 lac, the TDS claim may be accepted without verification.
Some of the microfinance institutions (MFIs) financed by banks or acting as their intermediaries/partners appear to be focussing on relatively better banked areas, including areas covered by the SHG-Bank linkage programme. Competing MFIs were operating in the same area, and trying to reach out to the same set of poor, resulting in multiple lending and overburdening of rural households.
