Anti-dumping duty on import of Plain Gypsum Plaster Boards originating in or exported from China PR, Indonesia,Thailand & UAE

Notification No. 32/2012-Customs (ADD) Whereas in the matter of imports of Plain Gypsum Plaster Boards of all thicknesses and dimensions, excluding Gypsum Boards having water absorption up to and including 5%, generally referred to as Moisture Resistant Boards, and Gypsum Boards having a minimum breaking load of 24 Newtons in the transverse direction and 50 Newtons in the longitudinal direction per millimetre of thickness of the Board, characterized as Impact Resistant Boards or Fire Resistant Boards” (hereinafter referred to as the subject goods), falling under the heading 6809 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975) (hereinafter referred as the said Customs Tariff Act), originating in, or exported from, China PR, Indonesia, Thailand, and UAE (hereinafter referred to as the subject countries) and imported into India, the designated authority in its preliminary findings vide, notification No. 14/45/2010-DGAD, dated the 19th March, 2012,published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part I, Section 1, dated the 19th March, 2012, had come to the conclusion that-

Extension of time in Filing of annual return by LLPs

As per the provisions of section 35 of the LLP Act, LLPs which do not file Form 11 within a period of sixty days of the date of closure of their financial year are required to pay additional fees. In order to avoid payment of additional fees by such LLPs due to closure of the system from 31.5.2012 to 10.6.2012, it has been decided to extend the time limit prescribed under the provisions of section 35 of the LLP Act by 30 days.

Notification No. 24/2012 – Service Tax, dated 6-6-2012 Determination of value of service portion in the execution of a works contract.- Subject to the provisions of section 67, the value of service portion in the execution of a works contract , referred to in clause (h) of section 66E of the Act, shall be determined in the following manner, namely:- (i) Value of service portion in the execution of a works contract shall be equivalent to the gross amount charged for the works contract less the value of property in goods transferred in the execution of the said works contract.

Banks advised to put in place a Board approved policy on classification of unclaimed deposits

In terms of our Circular DBOD.No.Leg.BC.34/09.07.005/2008-09 datedAugust 22, 2008 detailed instructions have been given to banks on dealing with unclaimed deposits/inoperative accounts. They have been advised to find the whereabouts of the customers and their legal heirs. These instructions, inter alia, include i) annual review of accounts in which there are no operations, ii) operations in such accounts to be allowed after due diligence, and iii) no charge to be levied for activation of inoperative accounts, etc.

Financial Literacy Centres (FLCs) – Guidelines

Since the Model Scheme has been in operation for quite some time, it was decided to evaluate it in terms of its efficacy and impact on the spread of Financial Literacy in the country. Accordingly, a study on the functioning of the FLCC has been conducted through a nationwide sample survey of 30 FLCCs spread across 16 States. The findings of the study indicate the limitations of the model scheme in scaling up the financial literacy efforts in the desired manner. Some of the findings of the study are given below:

In exercise of powers conferred by Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act,1992 (No.22 of 1992) read with paragraph 1.2 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-2014, the Central Government hereby notifies the Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-2014 as updated upto 5th June 2012 and incorporating the Annual Supplement. This shall come into force w.e.f. 5th June, 2012.

Notification No. 23/2012-Service Tax Central Government hereby appoints the 1st day of July, 2012 as the date with effect from which the provisions of the said section 66A of the said Act shall not apply, except as respects things done or omitted to be done before the said section 66A so ceases to apply.
