To ensure the smooth roll out of GST, the timeline for invoice-wise return filing in Form GSTR-1 and Form GSTR-2 for the first two months has been extended, and in lieu of Form GSTR 3, summarized details of outward and inward supplies in Form GSTR-3B are required to be submitted. This arrangement is mainly for the purpose of arriving liability under GST and payment of tax thereof.

Ministry of Finance today issued the much awaited notifications regarding the extension of time limit to file GST returns. As per these notifications, a normal registered person is required to file one return in Form GSTR-3B for the month of July ‘2017 latest by 20th of August’2017 and about seven returns to be filed in the month of September’2017.
Commissioner, on the recommendations of the Council, specifies that the return for the month as specified in column (2) of the Table below shall be furnished in FORM GSTR-3B electronically through the common portal before the dates as specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table, namely:-
Seeks to extend time period for filing of details in FORM GSTR-3 for months of July 2017 to 11th to 15th September, 2017 and for August 2017 to 26th to 30th September, 2017.
