A Regulation to provide for a tax system on the goods excluded from the Union Territory Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and to widen the tax base by levying tax on sale of the said goods at every point of sale, making the levy of tax transparent and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Taxpayers who were provisionally migrated by virtue of being registered under the existing laws, but who are no longer required to be registered under GST, the period of applying for cancellation of registration is being extended up to 30th September, 2017.
Even under the new GST regime, the rationale of excluding the tax component from the purview of TDS remains valid, the Board hereby clarifies that wherever in terms of the agreement or contract between the payer and the payee, the component of ‘GST on services’ comprised in the amount payable to a resident is indicated separately, tax shall be deducted at source under Chapter XVII-B of the Act on the amount paid or payable without including such ‘GST on services’ component.
