Government Infuses Total Sum of Rs. 8911 Crore During the last Four Months, the Highest Capital Infusion in the Public Sector Banks in Recent Times. As part of the budgetary promise to provide a sum of Rs.16,500 crore to ensure that the Public Sector Banks are able to attain a minimum 8 per cent Tier-I capital by March 31, 2011, the Government today approved infusion of Rs. 6211 crore in five Public Sector Banks.

The government today made it mandatory for all listed companies to have a minimum public float of 25 per cent. Those below this level will have to get there by an annual addition of at least 5 per cent to public holding. The move, was expected to result in equity dilution of about Rs 1,60,000 crore by 179 listed companies. These include Reliance Power, Wipro, Indian Oil Corporation, DLF and Tata Communications.

THE government on Friday introduced a scheme that will facilitate easy exit for unlisted companies willing to wind up their defunct business. A defunct company is one whose business is lying in a dormant state. The new scheme will give such companies an opportunity to get their names struck off from the Register of Companies(RoC).
