The assessment shall be made as per the following procedure, namely:— (i) the National e-Assessment Centre shall serve a notice on the assessee under sub-section (2) of section 143, specifying the issues for selection of his case for assessment;
National e-assessment Centre shall assign the case selected for the purposes of e-assessment under this Scheme to a specific assessment unit in any one Regional e-assessment Centre through an automated allocation system;

3,130 tax personnel, including 600 IT officers are busy implementing the Faceless e-Assessment scheme of Income Tax. Out of 58,319 cases selected for faceless assessment, already 8,700 cases have been disposed off.
The pilot project undertaken by the department proved to be highly successful. In total 58319 cases were selected in 8 cities i.e. Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi wherein till date 8701 cases have been completed without making any additions and only in 296 cases additions have been proposed which are presently under review.
CBIC has decided to begin the 2nd phase of All India roll-out of Faceless Assessment w.e.f. 03.08.2020 by including Delhi and Mumbai Customs Zones and extending the scope of Faceless Assessment at Chennai and Bangalore Customs Zones.
