In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No.22 of 1992) read with Para 1.3 and Para 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-2014, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the Schedule 2 (Export Policy) of ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import items as amended, from time to time :
Area based exemption is available to the units in the specified areas in the North-East region, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand under different notifications. The exemption is applicable to the new industrial units set up after the specified date and also to the existing units which have undertaken substantial expansion by way of increase in installed capacity by not less than 25%.

Trade defence measures are available to the domestic industry to counter unfair trade practices followed by exporters of goods from other countries. In case a product is imported into the country at less than its normal value, and it causes injury to the domestic industry, the domestic industry can make an application to Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied duties (DGAD) in the Department of Commerce for imposition of anti-dumping duty.
