The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued Notification No. 34/2025-CUSTOMS (N.T.) dated 15th May 2025, amending the existing tariff values under Notification No. 36/2001-CUSTOMS (N.T.). These revised tariff values, notified under the Customs Act, 1962, are applicable from 16th May 2025. The amendment replaces Tables 1, 2, and 3 of the earlier notification with updated tariff rates.

Table-1 includes revised values for edible oils and brass scrap. For example, crude palm oil is set at USD 987/MT, RBD palmolein at USD 1022/MT, and crude soya bean oil at USD 1070/MT. Brass scrap is now valued at USD 5473/MT.

Table-2 addresses tariff values for gold and silver. Gold, under specific customs benefits, is valued at USD 1028 per 10 grams, while silver is set at USD 1065 per kilogram. These values cover different forms including coins, bars, and semi-manufactured items, with exclusions for imports through post, courier, or baggage.

Table-3 maintains the tariff value for areca nuts at USD 6970/MT, with no changes from the previous rate.

This notification serves to update import valuation benchmarks for key commodities, affecting duties levied at Indian ports. The prior amendment to this notification was made through Notification No. 33/2025-CUSTOMS (N.T.), dated 30th April 2025.
