Accounting regulator ICAI has requested the Securities and Exchange Board of India to defer by at least six months implementation of its decision with regard to publishing of quarterly results by listed companies.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has recommended strict penal action, including imprisonment, for auditors who are found associated with serious accounting frauds. It also wants the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to frame a code of conduct for financial analysts and investment bankers for better scrutiny of firms that may indulge in such illegal affairs.
Recently, the Government of India released the consolidated policy framework for Foreign Direct Investment (‘FDI’) in India. An apology in a contempt proceeding must be offered at the earliest possible opportunity, said a Bench comprising Justices G S Singhvi and A K Ganguly in an order that toughens already stringent laws dealing with criminal contempt of court.
To set up a Company Law Tribunal without further delay, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has begun consultations to make the necessary amendments in the Companies Act. The move comes in the backdrop of the Supreme Court judgment recommending changes in the existing Act to accommodate the tribunal within the constitutional framework.

It is hereby informed that Paper -4 – Cost Accounting & Financial Management of Group-II of Professional Competence Examination and Paper-3 – Cost Accounting & Financial Management of Group-I of Integrated Professional Competence Examination held on 10th May-2010 in respect of candidates who had opted for Hindi medium stand cancelled due to an inadvertent typographical error in the question paper. The said examinations will now be held again on 22nd May-2010 from 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM . The venues of the examinations will remain unchanged. Admit Cards already issued would remain valid.
