RBI permission no longer required for cut in sanctioned ECB limit

As per the extant ECB procedures, requests for reduction in the amount of ECB, changes in the drawdown schedule and reduction in the all-in-cost of the ECB after obtaining the loan registration number (LRN) is required to be referred by the bank concerned to the RBI for necessary approval. Simplifying norms for overseas borrowers, the RBI today said they will no longer require its approval to raise an amount lesser than sanctioned ECB as the power to authorize the same has been delegated to banks.

ICAI – Discontinuation of Despatch of Admit Cards in physical form

Candidates may please note that despatch of Physical Admit Cards is being discontinued with effect from MAY 2012 exam onwards. Admit Cards will be hosted on the website www.icai.nic. in normally 21 days prior to the commencement of the examination.

Govt set to miss direct tax collection budget estimate

With the direct tax collection growing at a slower pace of 9 per cent this fiscal so far, the government is likely to miss the revenue mop up target for the 2011-12. According to the data released by the finance ministry, the net direct tax mop-up during the April-January period rose 9.28 per cent to Rs 3.46 lakh crore mainly on account higher realisation of personal income tax and corporate tax.

Terming the set revenue target of Rs 5.32 lakh crore as “non-negotiable”, CBDT Chairman Laxman Das has written to top Income Tax officials in the country asking them to take up the ‘challenge’ of filling the deficit. With the direct tax collection growing at a slower pace of 9% this financial year so far, the government is likely to miss the revenue mop up target for the 2011-12.

New Pattern of Examination – Examination for Foundation Course (Entry Level) Part-I will consist of Multiple Choice Questions. Answers to the Multiple Choice Questions to be marked in Optical Mark Recognition ( OMR ) answer sheets. This pattern of examination will be applicable to all the students who are appearing for Foundation Course (Entry Level) Part-I in June 2012 and thereafter.

2G case – CBi accuses CA Nilesh Doshi of resiling from statement

A prosecution witness in 2G spectrum case was today accused by CBI in a Delhi court of resiling from his statement to save the three Reliance ADA Group officials who are facing trial in the case. Nilesh Doshi, a chartered accountant, was accused by CBI of making a “false statement” as a witness in the court to save the company’s top executives Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair who have been chargesheeted for criminal conspiracy and other penal offences in the 2G scam.

CBEC Achieves Nearly 80.74% of Budget Estimate Up-to January, 2012 in the Current Fiscal

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has been able to achieve nearly 80.74% of Budget Estimate up-to the month of January, 2012 in the current fiscal year. At the present rate of growth, CBEC should be able to achieve the target of Rs.3,92,908 Crores.
