Steps Taken to Prevent Misuse of Tatkal Tickets

With a view to reduce the scope for misuse, Tatkal tickets are issued on production of self attested photocopy of one of the prescribed proof of identity and the same in original is required to be carried during the journey, to verify the bonafide of passengers. However, during peak rush periods when the demand outstrips the availability, some cases of black marketing of reserved tickets by touts come to notice at the time of surprise inspections and preventive checks conducted at reservation offices.

ICAI increases fees for Duplicate Certificate of Membership & Certificate of Practice

Fee for Duplicate Certificate of Membership as an Associate or Fellow as well as Certificate of Practice as an Associate or Fellow respectively has been increased to Five Hundred rupees and fee for any other duplicate certificate issued under these regulations has also been increased to Two Hundred Rupees with effect from August 1, 2012.

Last date to pay CS Annual membership fees

The last extended date for payment for Annual Membership Fee for the year 2012-13 is 31st August, 2012. The members who are yet to pay the fee are requested to pay the fee on or before 31st August, 2012. Please note that the names of the members whose annual membership fee for 2012-13 is not received in the Institute by 31st August, 2012 will stand removed from the Register of members w.e.f. 1st September, 2012.

ICAI exempts certain category of students from CPT Examination

The following categories of students shall be exempted from passing the Common Proficiency Test (CPT):- (A) Graduates or Post Graduates in Commerce having secured in aggregate a minimum of 55% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognised University (including Open University) by studying any three papers of 100 marks each out of Accounting, Auditing, Mercantile Laws, Corporate Laws, Economics, Management (including Financial Management), Taxation (including Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws), Costing, Business Administration or Management Accounting;

A Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) panel on black money has suggested enactment of new laws, strengthening of existing legislation and introduction of deterrent penalties for tax offences to deal with the menace.
