Changes made to India’s Employees’ Provident Funds Scheme, 1952 (EPFS) and Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 (EPS) in 2008 added ‘international workers’ within the Indian social security regime. Recently, India’s Employees’ Provident Funds Organisation issued a circular directing its field officers to determine full compliance in respect of all international workers.
I am directed to inform that Ministry of Labour and Employment, Govt. of India, vide its letter No. R-11018/1/2013.SS-II dated 15.05.2013 has conveyed the approval of the Central Government under para 60(1) of Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme, 1952 for crediting interest @ 8.50% on EPF accumulation for the financial year 2012-13 to the account of each member of the EPF Scheme.
New Delhi: Over 50 million subscribers of the retirement fund body EPFO will be able to apply online for transfer and withdrawal of their provident fund from July 1, a move aimed at speedy settlement of claims.
Since the creation of the multiple Regional Offices in some of the States, the erstwhile used State Codes were changed for 19 Regional Offices. Moreover, after the implementation of the Computerisation Project in the EPFO Offices, the members account number uses the Office code also even when the Region Codes had not changed.
References are received from various field offices pointing out that implementation of the instructions contained in the circular referred in Para 1 above will lead to return of claims already received in the office wherein the benefits payable are more than Rs. 10,000/-. This will lead to undue hardship to the PF beneficiaries.
