Plant and Plant portions, derivatives and extracts (including value added herbal formulations) of the cultivated varieties of the above species (excluding Sl. No. 16) will be allowed for export subject to production of a Certificate of Cultivation from the Regional Deputy Director (Wildlife), or Chief Conservator of Forests or Divisional Forest Officers of the State concerned from where these plants and plant portions have been procured. However in respect of the cultivated varieties of the species as covered by Appendix 1 (Sl. No. 1 to 6 of Paragraph 2 above) and Appendix 2 (Sl. No. 7 to 18 of Paragraph 2 above) of CITES, a CITES Permit for export will also be required.
Attention is invited to the Public Notice No. 26/1997-2002, dated 14th July 1997, wherein the conditions and procedures to be followed in respect of export of sandalwood in the form of heartwood chips, mixed chips, flakes of the sandalwood classes mentioned in Annexure I to the said Public Notice, Sapwood chips/powder and sandalwood dust obtained as waste after the manufacturing process have been specified. Attention is also invited to the Public Notice No. 59/1997-2002 dated 11th December 1997.
Export of Sandalwood De-oiled Spent Dust shall be permitted only through the ports of Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta and Chennai after physical verification of consignments by the concerned Regional Wildlife Warden of the Ministry of Environment & Forests.
All the Designated Authorities of Pass Book Scheme and Commissioners of Customs are, therefore, advised that they must finalise the claims and grant credits, wherever admissible, positively latest by 30. 9.1998. This issues with the approval of Director General of Foreign Trade.
