Attention is invited to the provisions contained in paragraph 4.6 of the Handbook (Vol.1) which lays down inter-alia the categories of importers/exporters exempted from obtaining Importers-Exporters code (IEC) number. From 1st July, 2000, all importers/exporters shall be required to have a validated IEC number failing which no consignment shall be allowed by Customs.
DGFT issues amendment for DEPB scheme re-export, updates in Chapter 10, product descriptions, and new agencies for certificate issuance.
The sub paragraph of Paragraph 11.2 in Chapter 11 shall be amended to read as under: “An Inter-Ministerial Working Group under the Chairmanship of Export Commissioner in Directorate General of Foreign Trade shall consider applications for export of Special Chemicals, Organism, Materials, Equipments and Technologies(SCOMET) as specified in Schedule 2, Appendix-3 of ITC(HS) on the basis of guidelines issued in this regard from time to time.
Public Notice No. 14(RE-00) updates DEPB rates and value caps for chemicals, including refrigerants and engineering items, with new adjustments for value caps.
The Standard Input Output Norms appearing at Sl. No. C-1503 (under the Engineering Product Group) as amended vide the above Public Notice shall be corrected to read as under.
Public Notice No. 12 (RE-2001) updates SION for chemicals and engineering products under the Export & Import Policy 1997-2002.
DGFT updates Export & Import Policy with amendments on license transferability, DEPB rates, and export product classifications.
Public Notice No. 10(RE-00) updates various corrections and additions in the Export-Import Handbook, including DEPB, SEZ references, and licensing authorities.
DGFT updates Standard Input-Output Norms for chemicals, engineering, leather, and textiles under Public Notice 9, dated 01 May 2000. New entries added.
Attention is invited to Public Notice no. 39 (RE-99) dated 16.11.99, Public Notice no. 43 dated 15.12.99, public notice no. 49 dated 27.1.2000 and publicnotice no. 55 dt. 16.3.2000 according to which all IEC holders are required to modify/update the IEC, alongwith PAN Number, issued in their favour. Several representations have been received from the exporters as well as chambers of Commerce and Industry highlighting the problems in obtaining PAN numbers despite extending the last date for updation upto 28th April, 2000.
