On July 17, 2000, the Government of India issued Public Notice No. 21 (RE-2000)/1997-2002, which amends the Export and Import Policy for the period 1997-2002. The amendment affects the export conditions for Ephedrine and its salts, as well as Pseudoephedrine and its salts. The updated policy stipulates that, for export, these substances must meet specific documentation requirements, including the submission of a No Objection Certificate from the Narcotics Commissioner of India, based in Gwalior. This amendment was made in line with the provisions under Paragraph 4.11 of the Export & Import Policy, 1997-2002, and is intended to ensure regulatory oversight and control over the export of these sensitive chemicals. The notice is issued in public interest to maintain compliance with national and international narcotics control measures.
