On July 6, 2000, the Director General of Foreign Trade issued Public Notice No. 20 (RE-2000)/1997-2002, amending the conditions for exporting certain bone and horn products to the European Union. The amendment in Schedule 2, Appendix 1 of the ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import Items 1997-2002 introduces two key changes. First, it specifies that the export of bones, bone products, horns, horn products, hooves, and hoof products (excluding certain meals) to the EU must be accompanied by a certificate from the Chemicals and Allied Products Export Promotion Council (CAPEXIL), confirming the production process followed. Second, the export of bones and bone products, including ossein and gelatine intended for human consumption, requires approval from CAPEXIL and the issuance of a health certificate for the exported items. These amendments were made to ensure compliance with EU regulations and are issued in the public interest.

In exercise of the powers conferred under Paragraph 4.11 of the Export & Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendments in Schedule 2 Appendix 1 of the book titled “ ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import Items 1997-2002.”
2. The entry against S. No. 35 in the Schedule 2 Appendix 1 of the book titled “ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import Items 1997-2002”( incorporating amendments made upto 31st August,1998 ) shall be amended to read as under :-
