Petrol price cut by Rs. 2 a litre with effect from midnight tonight

After the sharp criticism over the steepest hike, petrol price was on Saturday cut by Rs 2 per litre, a partial rollback of the Rs 7.54 a litre increase affected more than a week ago. The reduction, a result of fall in international oil prices, will mean that petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 71.18 per litre from midnight tonight, as against Rs 73.18 at present.

India signed an Agreement with the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the Exchange of Information with respect to taxes (TIEA), here yesterday. The Agreement was signed by Shri Namo Narain Meena, Minister of State for Finance (Expenditure and Financial Affairs) on behalf of Government of India and H.E. Kamal Ahmad, Minister for Transportation and Acting CEO of the Economic Development of Bahrain on behalf of Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Can do little to arrest rupee fall – RBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has said that it could do little to arrest the fall of rupee if the decline was caused by fundamental weakness of the economy or due to global factors. Speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Friday, RBI Deputy Governor KC Chakrabarty said in such a case, RBI could only take more calibrated steps in the forex market.

Economists across the globe have extended countless explanations for the recurring trend of economic meltdown, now a part of business cycle. Uneven sharing of profit, i.e. less return of profit money to lower and middle level workers, has also been cited as one of the reasons. Generally it is seen that industries give back less money and, thereby, share very less profit with their workers in terms of their remunerations than the goods manufactured by them, i.e. price at which goods are sold at. Industries share this profit mainly with the top rung of their workers, i.e. management or policy-/strategy-makers, apart from putting it for fundamental investments.
