The Finance Act, 2010 has inserted a new section 80CCF in the Income Tax Act, 1961, which provides that an amount upto the extent of Rs. 20,000/- paid or deposited during the financial years 2010-11 as subscription to long-term infrastructure bonds shall be allowed as deduction in computing the income of an individual or a Hindu Undivided Family.

Any profits or gains arising from the transfer of a capital asset is taxable as ‘capital gains’ and is deemed to be the income of the tax payer in the financial year in which the transfer takes place. Similarly, income of every kind, which is not specifically taxed under any of the specified heads of income, like salary, house property, business income etc., and unless specifically exempt, is subject to tax under the head ‘income from other sources’.

Section 154 of the Income Tax Act, 1961 provides that any mistake apparent from the record can be rectified by the assessing authority within expiry of four years from the end of the financial year in which the order sought to be amended was passed.
