There are popular 5 Ws (What, who, when, why, where) which can generally answer all type of questions in respect of any topic. Composition scheme is yet not clear to more of the persons. It seems to be very attractive when things are not crystal clear. But right decision can only be taken after considering all the aspects.
GST Composition Scheme has been introduced to reduce the compliance burden for the small businesses in India. Any person opting this particular scheme will pay taxes at prescribed reduced rates on the basis of their business turnover. Such a system assures greater compliance ease without the load of maintaining elaborate tax records.
To opt in for composition scheme a taxpayer has to file Form GST CMP-01 or GST CMP-02 with the government. This intimation should be given at the beginning of every Financial Year by a dealer wanting to opt for Composition Scheme.
In GST, different tax rates are prescribed for different goods (0, 5%, 12%, 18%, ) whereas a composition dealer has to pay tax at a single fixed rate. Till now, composition rate applicable to traders was 1% and that for manufacturers was 2%. But now it has been decided to revise the rate for manufacturers also to 1%.
Arjuna, the main characteristics of Form GSTR – 3B are as follows: 1. Form GSTR -3B is to be filed for every month before 20th of next month upto March, 2018. 2. The concept of Form GSTR -3B is introduced for not to decrease the revenue of Government. 3. Form GSTR -3B cannot be revised. 4. After feeding all the information, tax liability will be calculated. 5. For every month, tax is to be paid as per Form GSTR -3B.
Composition Scheme under GST is not beneficial for traders who are dealing in products covered by GST slab rate of 5%. Small traders opt for Composition Scheme only to avoid GST compliances and heavy charges payable to Chartered Accountants.
