The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested an Income Tax Officer, posted at Khatima, Udhamsingh Nagar (Uttarakhand) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.One Lakh from the complainant.
A case was registered on 12-01-2015 against Income Tax Officer, Income Tax Office, Khatima, Udhamsingh Nagar(Uttarakhand) on a complaint alleging that Income Tax Officer was demanding a bribe of Rs. 2 lakhs from the complainant in lieu of not putting his income tax claim under scrutiny. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.One lakh from the Complainant at Income Tax Office, Khatima. Simultaneously, a search of the residential properties of the accused is under progress at Haldwani and Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
The accused is being produced in the Designated Court.
