Incentives for Textile Sectors; Proposal for Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks

The Foreign Trade Policy-2009-14 incorporates several measures of incentives for the export sector including the textiles and clothing viz. Inclusion of 26 new international markets under the Focus Market Scheme; enhancement of incentives available under Focus Market Scheme and Focus Product Scheme; broad basing the coverage of Market Linked Focus Product Scheme for textile products and extension of Market Linked Focus Product Scheme benefits for exports of textiles and clothing products to additional new markets. The Duty Entitlement Passbook Scheme has also since been extended from 30.6.2011 to 30.9.2011.

Govt to end gas Subsidy for people with annual income of Rs 6 lakh

The government should end subsidised domestic cooking gas (LPG) for people with income of more than Rs 6 lakh per annum, a Parliamentary Panel has suggested. A 14.2-kg LPG cylinder in Delhi currently costs Rs 395.35. This is Rs 247 short of its market price. If the panel recommendation is accepted, people with more than Rs 6 lakh per annum household income will have to pay Rs 642.35 per bottle.

SC to hear Vodafone's Rs 11000 crore tax dispute tomorrow

The Supreme Court is likely to start the final hearing on the high profile Rs 11,000 crore tax dispute between telecom major Vodafone and the I-T Department tomorrow– a development that corporate India has been keenly watching. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapadia is expected to start hearing the case immediately after concluding its hearing on a petition over right to education.

Performance of SEZ in last three years

Land is a State subject. Land for SEZs is procured as per the policy and procedures of the respective State Governments. As per information available in respect of 381 SEZs, 82.3% of land is waste/barren/dry/industrial, 15% of land is single crop and 2.7% of land is double crop. A Statement containing state-wise distribution of land area of SEZs is Annexed.

CBI registers four new cases regarding manipulation in AIIMS Entrance Exams

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered four new cases regarding manipulation in AIIMS entrance exams in the on-going investigation of a case registered on 2nd June 2011 pertaining to manipulation and rigging of AIIMS PG Entrance Exam 2011, held on 8th May 2011 in which six persons including kingpin had been arrested.

57100 cases pending in SC; 42 lakh in HCs- Law Minister. As per latest available information, 57,179 cases were pending in the Supreme Court of India as on 30.6.11. The number of cases pending in the High Courts were 42,17,903 as on 30.9.2010. Giving his information in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister of Law & Justice informed the House that in order to facilitate expeditious disposal of cases in courts, Government has taken a number of measures as mentioned below:

CBI registers a case against the then Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra and Goa for possession of Disproportionate Assests

It is alleged that the accused while working as Chief PostMaster General, Maharashtra and Goa, Mumbai had accumulated disproportionate assets by mis-using his official position which was disproportionate to his known sources of income. He is found in possession of number of flats / plots at Bhopal, Gwalior and Faridabad. He is holding a number of accounts at various banks and post offices in his name and in the name of his family members having heavy credit balance.
