The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, on the request of the Professional Institutes, decided to re-open the registration process of CFCs and decided to allow enrollment of more CFCs so that the involvement of professional in XBRL filing and peak filing can be expanded to a large extent. The registration process is re-opened for a period of 2 months from October 1, 2011.
IMPORTANT NOTE: PCE (Professional Competence Examination) candidates should note the changed sequence of papers (as given in the time table printed on reverse of Admit Card) for November, 2011 examinations and that the examination for Group-I will commence on 2nd November,2011 and Group-II will commence on 06th November, 2011. Further all the IPCE UNIT candidates should check that their admit card is for the applicable Unit, otherwise they should inform the Institute in writing requesting for correction and should appear only in papers of respective Unit.
The Institute has already released the revised Guidance Note on CAS-4 and requested for comments / suggestions on the same upto 10th October 2011. Based on the request of the members it has been decided to extend the last date for submission of the comments up to 31st October 2011. The Draft is available on the website of the Institute i.e. www.icwai.org.
India will continue to allow 100% Foreign Direct Investment for new ventures in the pharma sector. The decision was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to discuss the FDI policy in drugs and pharmaceutical sector held in New Delhi last night. An official release said, the move will facilitate addition of manufacturing capacities, technology acquisition and development of the pharma sector in the country.

SMS BASED SERVICE FOR CHALLAN STATUS – NSDL provides CIN (Challan Identification Number) based view of direct tax challans to taxpayers to know the status of challan on its web-site. In addition to the above facility, NSDL has launched a Short Message Service (SMS) based facility to know the status of its challans. The procedure for availing this facility is as under:
Taxpayers can view status of refund 10 days after their refund has been sent by the Assessing Officer to the Refund Banker – by entering ‘PAN’ and ‘Assessment Year’ below. Status of ‘paid’ refund, being paid other than through ‘Refund Banker,’ can also be viewed at www.tin-nsdl.com by entering the ‘PAN’ and ‘Assessment Year’ below. ‘Refund paid’ status is also being reflected in the ‘Tax Credit Statements’ in Form 26AS.
National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) processes PAN and TAN applications on behalf of Income Tax Department. With a view to keep the applicant updated about the status of his application, NSDL has launched a Short Message Service (SMS) based facility. The applicant can send an SMS to 53030 with a message containing the word PAN followed by a space and the 15-digit acknowledgement number provided at the time of submission of application i.e., PAN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT NUMBER (e.g., PAN 123456789012345 – this is an illustrative acknowledgement number. Actual acknowledgement number should be provided in the SMS).
