Union Budget 2017-18: Restrictions Levied On Cash Receipts U/S. 269ST– How to Compute Limit of Less Than Rs. 3 Lakhs in Different Circumstances
The Finance Bill, 2017 has proposed to introduce a new section 269ST in the Income Tax Act with effect from 01st April, 2017. This section aims for restricting the cash transaction for achieving the mission of the Government to move towards less cash economy to reduce generation and circulation of black money in the economy.
Any sum contributed by an Indian company to any political party or an electoral trust in the previous year, is allowed as deduction in computing the total income of such Indian companyunder section 80GGB. However cash contributions shall not be allowed as deduction under his section.
As per the existing provisions of the Income-tax Act, a deductor is required to furnish a periodical TDS statement (quarterly) containing the details of deduction of tax made during the quarter by the prescribed due dateA substantial number of the deductors are not furnishing their TDS statement within the prescribed due date. Delay in furnishing of TDS statement results in delay in granting of credit of TDS to the deductee and consequently results into delay in issue of refunds to the deductee tax payers or raising of infructuous demand against the deductee tax payers

A question which is coming in the mind of Taxpayers nowadays is do Rebate of income-tax under section 87A as available from FY 2013-14, also available for FY 2015-16 and subsequent years. One more question which comes to mind is amount of Rebate Available, i.e is it Rs. 2000/- or Rs. 5000/- for Financial Year 2015-16?
