Seeks to increase tariff rate of BCD on populated, loaded or stuffed printed circuit boards, falling under tariff item 8517 70 10, of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 from Nil to 10%.
Pre-notice consultation shall be made in the following manner:- (1) Before the notice is issued, the proper officer shall inform, in writing, the person chargeable with duty or interest of the intention to issue the notice specifying the grounds known to the proper officer on which such notice is proposed to be issued and the process of pre-notice consultation shall be initiated as far as possible atleast two months before the expiry of the time limit mentioned in sub-section (3) of section 28 of the Act.
With the enactment of the Finance Act, 2018, CBEC is renamed as the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). The change was necessitated due to enactment of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) which has consolidated the multiple Indirect Taxes into one tax.
The Special Judge, CBI cases, Chennai has sentenced Shri D.Ramani, then Appraiser, Air Customs Department, Chennai to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment in a disproportionate assets case. His wife Smt. R. Vijayalakshmi and other person Sh. Adikesavulu were sentenced to undergo one year RI. A total fine of Rs. 2 lakh was imposed on them.
G.S.R. (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in each of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance
1. (1) These regulations may be called the Courier Imports and Exports (Electronic Declaration and Processing) Amendment Regulations, 2018. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
