Public Notice No. 49 (RE-2001)/1997-2002, issued by the Government of India on January 1, 2001, introduces amendments and additions to the Standard Input Output Norms (SION) in the Handbook of Procedures, Vol. 2 (1997-2002). These changes impact various product categories including chemicals, engineering, food, and plastic products. Specific adjustments are made to the export and import items listed under each category, with the introduction of new entries. For example, new entries for chemicals, engineering products, and food products are added, alongside updates to existing product descriptions and quantities. Additionally, the notice revises the norms for items such as Dimethyl Amino Ethyl Chloride Hydrochloride and Bleached Soft Wood Pulp, reflecting changes in import quantities and specifications. These modifications aim to align with the evolving needs of trade and industry, ensuring that the export and import policies remain relevant and effective in facilitating international commerce. The notice includes corrections to prior entries and clarifications on the processing requirements for leather products, outlining specific norms for finished leather per pair in various product categories. The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued this public notice in the interest of transparency and to provide updated guidelines for exporters and importers operating under the Foreign Trade Policy.

Attention is invited to Paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002, as amended and Paragraphs 7.8 and 7.10 of the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.1, 1997-2002, as amended and also to the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.2, 1997-2002, as amended from time to time.
2. In exercise of the powers conferred under Paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002, as amended, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendments/modifications and additions in the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.2, 1997-2002, as amended.
3. In the statement of Standard Input Output Norms as contained in the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.2, 1997-2002, as amended, amendments/ corrections at appropriate places as mentioned in Annexure “A” to this Public Notice shall be made.
4. In the statement of Standard Input Output Norms, following additions shall be made at appropriate places as mentioned below:-
CHEMICALS AND ALLIED PRODUCTS
After the existing entry at Sr.No.A-2515, the new entries from Sr.No.A-2516 to A-2525 shall be added as per Annexure ”B” to this Public Notice.
ENGINEERING PRODUCTS
After the existing entry at Sr.No.C-1577, the new entries from Sr.No.C-1578 to A-1582 shall be added as per Annexure ”C” to this Public Notice.
FOOD PRODUCTS
After the existing entry at Sr.No.E-89, the new entries Sr.No.E-90 to E-93 shall be added as per Annexure ”D” to this Public Notice.
PLASTIC PRODUCTS
After the existing entry at Sr.No.H-434, the new entry Sr.No.H-435 shall be added as per Annexure ”E” to this Public Notice.
