Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed all agency banks handling government transactions to remain open on March 31, 2025, despite it being a public holiday. This decision follows a request from the Government of India to ensure that all government-related receipts and payments are accounted for within the Financial Year 2024-25. The directive applies to branches dealing with government business, allowing seamless processing of year-end transactions.
Agency banks are also required to publicize the availability of banking services on this day to inform customers. This measure aims to facilitate smooth financial operations and prevent any disruptions in government transactions at the close of the financial year.
