Notification No. 37/2026-Customs (N.T.), issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962, amends Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) by revising tariff values for specified imported goods. The amendment substitutes Tables 1, 2, and 3, updating tariff values for key commodities such as crude and refined palm oil, palmolein, crude soybean oil, and brass scrap. It also revises tariff values for precious metals including gold and silver in various forms, along with areca nuts. The notification specifies differentiated tariff rates depending on the nature and classification of goods, including conditions linked to concessional duty benefits. These tariff values serve as the basis for customs duty calculation to ensure uniform valuation. The revised rates come into effect from 16th April 2026. The amendment reflects the government’s intent to align tariff values with prevailing international prices and maintain consistency in customs valuation mechanisms.
