As per the provisions of section 5 read with section 4 of the Maharashtra State Tax on Profession, Trade, Callings and Employments Act, 1975 (Profession Tax Act), every employer having employees on his establishment, whose salary (including all allowances) is more than the limit prescribed under the Profession Tax Act, is required to obtain registration certificate under Profession Tax Act (P.T.R.C.)
To give effect to the Budget proposals, a Bill (Legislative Assembly Bill No. XIV of 2009) to amend the Maharashtra State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Act, 1975 was introduced in the Legislature. The said Bill has been passed by both the houses of the Legislature. The Act is now published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette dated 27th June 2009.
The Amnesty Scheme is open for the period from 1st August, 2009 to 31st March, 2010 and is called “Profession tax Enrollment Incentive scheme 2009”.

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (2) of section 1 of the Maharashtra Tax Laws (Levy, Amendment and Validation) Act, 2009 (Mah.
