As per the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988 a candidate shall be registered for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) if he has passed class 10th examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto. Further, no candidate shall be admitted to the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) unless he is registered with the Board of Studies of the Institute and has appeared in the senior secondary examination (10+2) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto and has complied with such requirements as may be specified by the Council from time to time.

As students are aware, the matter relating to extending the facility of appearance in the final examination during the last 12 months of their articleship training by students who originally registered themselves for the Professional Education – II (PE-II) course as well as those who converted themselves from PE-II to Professional Competence Course (PCC)/Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC)
In view of the discontinuation of Professional Education (Examination-II), all students of erstwhile Intermediate/ Professional Education (Course-II) shall have to switchover to Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) to continue their chartered accountancy course. As per the eligibility requirements of the Integrated Professional Competence Examination (IPCE), a student is admitted to the said examination on fulfilling following eligibility criteria:
Enroll with the ICAI for Common Proficiency Test (CPT) after passing class 10th examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto.
Applicability of services for November 2010 examinations:-Professional Competence Examination. It is clarified that in Part –II : Service tax and VAT of Paper 5 : Taxation, students will not be tested on specific questions covering individual taxable services.
In view of the closure of bank on account of weekly holiday on Sunday i.e.1st August, 2010, it has been decided that the last date for registration to Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) is extended upto 2nd August, 2010 for being eligible to appear in the Integrated Professional Competence Examination (IPCE) to be held in May, 2011.
