Order under Section 119(1) of the Income-tax Act, 1961
For Assessment Year 2017-18, the ‘due-date’ for filing of return of income in cases of certain categories of tax payers has been extended till 5th August ,2017 vide order of CBDT u/s 119 of the Income Tax Act,1961 dated 31.07.2017. In order to facilitate filing of returns on 5th August, 2017, being Saturday, the Central Board of Direct Taxes in exercise of powers conferred under section 119 hereby directs that necessary arrangements be made for receiving income tax returns on that date up to midnight in all income tax-offices throughout the country. This instruction may be given vide publicity.

Opening of Income Tax Offices on 05th August, 2017 for receipt of returns.
In view of the difficulties faced by taxpayers, the due date for filing of Income Tax Returns for F.Y. 2016-2017 i.e. A.Y. 2017-2018 was extended to 5th August, 2017(for certain categories of taxpayers).
In order to facilitate manual filing of returns(of aforesaid categories) on 5th August, 2017, being a Saturday, the Central Board of Direct Taxes has directed that necessary arrangements be made for receiving Income Tax Returns upto midnight in all Income Tax Offices throughout the country.
