On July 2, 1999, the Government of India issued Notification No. 16(RE-98) to amend and correct aspects of Notification No. 2(RE-99) dated March 31, 1999, and the ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import items, 1997-2002. A corrigendum was issued to correct EXIM codes for items listed under Sl. No. 2 and Sl. No. 7 in the previous notification. Specifically, the EXIM code for Sl. No. 2 was corrected to 49119100.30, and for Sl. No. 7, the EXIM code was changed to 85249909.90, with the addition of import conditions for consumer goods. The amendments also clarified that items classified as freely importable or under SIL can be imported in any packaging unless specified otherwise. Additionally, the description of the item classified under EXIM code 29173902 was corrected to “Di-Octyl phthalate.” These changes were made to ensure the proper application and accuracy of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002.

S.O (E) – In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the of Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.3 and 4.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Central Government hereby notifies a Corrigendum to Notification No. 2 (RE-99) 1997-2002 dated 31st March ’99 and also notifies the following amendment in the ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import) items , 1997-2002 published on 31st March 1997 and as amended from time to time namely :

Corrigendum

1. In para 5 of Notification 2(RE-99) 1997-2002 dated 31.3.99 the existing EXIM code at Sl. No. 2 shall be corrected to read as “49119100.30”.

2. In para 6 of the aforesaid Notification, the following corrections shall be made against the entry at Sl.No. 7 –

i. EXIM Code shall be corrected to read as 85249909.90.

ii. In the last column, the condition “Consumer goods – Not permitted to be imported except against a license or in accordance with Public Notice issued in this behalf” shall be inserted.

Amendments

1. Whenever any item is freely importable or importable under SIL under ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import items, such item can be imported in any size /shape of packing including consumer packing , unless otherwise specified.

2. The description of item classified under EXIM code 29173902 shall be corrected to read as “Di- Octyl phthalate”.
