The existing Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020 which is valid upto 31.03.2022 is extended upto 30th September, 2022 by DGFT VIDE Notification No. 64/2015-2020 Dated: 31st March, 2022.

While we were all eagerly waiting for the release of India’s new Foreign Trade Policy, a Public notice No- 53/2015-20 and a Notification 64/2015-20 got released today, which declared the existing Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20 which ​​is valid upto 31 March 2022 is extended upto 30 September 2022.

A statement from the Government official last week stated the reason specified for the same is that foreign trade policy cell is working on aspects that will benefit Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and the ways in which they can sync new foreign trade policy with the new framework for Special Economic Zones.

In this regard, the Government has also proposed to replace the existing law governing SEZs with a new legislation to enable states to become partners in the ‘Development of Enterprise and Service Hubs’ (DESH) and the new legislation will also comply with World Trade Organization (WTO) laws and rules.

Dated: 31st March, 2022

S.O. 1549(E). – In exercise of powers conferred by Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.02 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2015-2020, as amended, the Central Government hereby makes, with immediate effect, the following amendments in the FTP 2015-2020:

In para 1.01, the phrase ‘shall remain in force upto 31st March, 2022 unless otherwise specified’ is substituted by the phrase ‘shall remain in force upto 30.09.2022 unless otherwise specified.’

Effect of this Notification: The existing Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020 which is valid upto 31.03.2022 is extended upto 30th September, 2022.
