The government is formulating a comprehensive land acquisition bill that will address concerns about process of acquiring land for purposes such as setting up SEZs and compensation to be paid. Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour, Minister of State for Agriculture K V Thomas said a group of ministers (GoM) was considering a bill to reform land acquisition law.
With an aim at faster clearance of trademark cases in the country, the government has sought public comments on amending the relevant rules to make them more significant and user friendly. “The Comptroller General of Patent, Design and Trade Marks (CGPDTM) intends to make a proposal for amendment of the Trade Mark Rules,” the CGPDTM said in a communication.

The Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2010, (Sill’) has been passed by Rajya Sabha on 9 August 2010. The Bill seeks to amend the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 (‘the Act’) which empowers the government to regulate trade in goods.
As per the Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-14, India’s exports of goods and services are expected to double by 2014. Government reviews the export performance of the various sectors through consultation with the Export Promotion Councils (EPC) and the Trade & Industry on continuous basis and based on the suggestions so received, extends need based support measures from time to time as per the requirement and the revenue implications thereof.

Attention is invited to Regulation 2 (d) of IRDA (Insurance Advertisements and Disclosures) Regulations, 2000 & Part – IV of Guidelines for Unit Linked Life Insurance Products issued vide Circular 032/IRDA/ACTL/Dec-2005 dated December 21, 2005 with regard to insurance advertisements .
