In a significant development, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has issued a notification detailing the appointment of new members to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). As per the notification, fourteen individuals have been appointed to serve as Judicial and Technical Members. These appointments have been made under the powers conferred by section 408 of the Companies Act, 2013.
This announcement is a crucial step in strengthening the functioning of the NCLT. The individuals appointed as Judicial and Technical Members will serve in the pay scale of Rs. 67000-79000/- (pre revised) [level 15 in the pay matrix (Rs. 182200-224100) as per 7th Central Pay Commission] for a period of five years from their respective dates of joining. The list of appointees includes retired justices, experienced legal practitioners, and technical experts, signifying a balanced mix of legal and technical expertise within the tribunal.
The appointment of these members is a significant move to enhance the efficacy of the NCLT in handling company law cases. Each of these appointees brings a unique set of skills and expertise, which will be instrumental in enriching the functioning of the Tribunal.

S.O. 2543(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 408 of the Companies Act, 2013 (18 of 2013), the Central Government hereby appoints following persons as Judicial Member and Technical Member in the National Company Law Tribunal in the pay scale of Rs. 67000-79000/- (pre revised) [level 15 in the pay matrix (Rs. 182200-224100) as per 7th Central Pay Commission] for a period of five years with effect from the date of joining mentioned against the name of each such member specified in table below, or till attaining the age of sixty-five years, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest, namely:-
