The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a notification on September 4, 2024, amending its 2016 list of accredited laboratories for food testing across multiple regions. The changes impact labs in Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Assam. In Punjab, Punjab Biotechnology Incubator, Mohali, replaces a previously listed laboratory, while Gujarat sees Accurate Universal Laboratories Private Limited, Ahmedabad, substituted for an earlier entry. New additions include the South India Textile Research Association in Coimbatore and Analytical Testing Laboratory at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Hyderabad. Several labs in Haryana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu have been removed. In Assam, National Test House (NER), Guwahati, has been added to the list. These updates ensure that FSSAI continues to maintain a comprehensive network of accredited laboratories capable of performing biological and chemical testing, thereby supporting food safety regulation and compliance. The notification is an amendment to the principal rules, which were first published in 2016 and last updated in July 2024.
