Subject:- Benefit of two years weight age of service to the members with 20 or more years of Pensionable Service under Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 — reg.

Sir,

Several references have been received from the field offices that cases where two years weight age was given where the past service comes out to 20 years, the new application software while generating the worksheet has reduced the past service benefits in comparison to that calculated in legacy software. The matter has been examined and the following clarification is issued.

The provision for the past service pension is provided in Para 12 (3) as under :-

From the above said table it is clear that:

• Row-1 includes past service up to 11 years and 11 years.
• Row-2 includes past service of more than 11 years and up to 15 years and 15 years.
• Row-3 includes past service of more than 15 years but less than 20 years.
• Row-4 includes past service beyond 20 years.

As Row-3 specifically speaks of past service less than 20 years, it will not include past service of 20 years as per simple understanding. Hence, the logical conclusion is that Row-4 will include past service of 20 years and beyond 20 years.

In this regard necessary changes have been made in the application software by the I.S. Division and the WAR has been released to all field offices.

In light of the above, it is requested to take necessary action to dispose off all references/grievances pending at your end.
