Import of Sandal Wood under Exim Code No. 44039922 will be restricted and subject to a ceiling of 5,000 cum in each licensing year. Imports will be permitted only against an Import License issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade. The Import License shall be issued in consultation with the Ministry of Environment and Forest.
In exercise of powers conferred under Paragraph 2.4 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby notifies annual supplement of the Handbook of Procedures (Volume I) incorporating Annual Supplement as updated on 7th April 2006 as contained in annexure to this Public Notice and the Appendices to the Handbook of Procedures (Vol.I) as available on the website of Directorate General of Foreign Trade at http://dgft.gov.in. This shall come into force from 1st April, 2006.

Manufacturer Exporters should submit a copy of Legal Procurement Certificate(s)/Certificate of Origin issued in their name by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests of the concerned State stating that Exporter/s himself / themselves have purchased Sandalwood (Oil Classes i.e. Root Classes & Ainchilta) in the auction conducted by the State Government in the format as prescribed at Annexure I to this Public Notice.

Application received within the stipulated period would be considered by the Export Facilitation Committee on merit for issue of Export Licences for export of said items and shall be subject to any other condition, so imposed.
Supply of goods to projects financed by multilateral or bilateral agencies/funds as notified by the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance under International Competitive Bidding in accordance with the procedures of those agencies/funds, where the legal agreements provide for tender evaluation without including the customs duty.
