ICAI has declared the Result of Chartered Accountancy Final Examination held in November 2013 on Wednesday 15th January 2014.
Of the 32,536 candidates (both groups) who appeared for the final exam, the number of those who passed both groups in this attempt stood at only 1013, resulting in a pass percentage of 3.11 per cent. The same seems to be very low if we compare the same with pass percentage of May 2013 (Both Group) examination in which Percentage was as high as 10.03% . So Both Group result of this attempt shows a decline in result of around 70% as compared to last attempt.
It is reported by CA Bikash Bogi in his article titled “CA Final Results – Analysis of Last 22 Terms” that Pass percentage of November 2013 is Lowest Compared to Earlier 22 Exam terms for not only the both group but also for First Group and Second Group. Highest and lowest pass percentage of last 23 terms are as follows :-

Results should not be discriminative as in may 2012 also students studied with 2 eyes and now in November 2013 also students study hard!!
May 2012-16% result
Nov 2013-3%
….Quite Discriminatory as when we go for interviews may 2012 cas will get preference over nov 2013 based on no of attempts!!
Be fair if not mercifull…iCAi
quality of study material to be improved.
percentile system of allotting marks can be considered. This will be appropriate

This method of restricting results should be from the very beginning that is, from the entry level and not at the final level especially. Because those who have reached final and those who have cleared One Group and waiting for another group to qualify would be terribly frustrated by this percentage of results. Hope to get good results atleast from the next attempt. This is really indigestible.
I thought this is because of input of CA course through CPT pass percentage and compare number of students who qualified but not percentage wise
This should from entery level like engineering and MBA.
Yes I am one of the example as far as conceptual clarity concern.
Dear All,
this thought just came to me on seeing the pass %
lets say 1,000 students enter the ca profession;
appx. CPT pass percentage is 40%, so 400 students clear the foundation;
lets assume Inter pass percentage is 20%, so of 400 only 80 reach final;
of the 80 students this term only 3% have cleared = 2.4 CAs
this means that from entry to exit the clearing percentage is 2.4/1000= 0.24%
Absolutely right.
Such a step on part of ICAI was very much required to maintain the grace of our profession.
I have so many of my friends that qualified and are still searching for a good job.
This was due since long time – students had started taking a lackadaisical approach towards the course…and the general attitude was that coaching classes material and suggesteds were the be all and end all of syllabus.. The concept of referring to text books had become totally alien … And a lot of students who were passing out were conceptually so weak that they were actually a disgrace to the profession
