In the recent years advancements in banking technology, progress in mobile banking and innovative technologies to facilitate digital payments have enabled large number of small denomination transactions to be handled smoothly in electronic mode. The Government of India has taken policy decisions encouraging cashless/electronic transactions.
It has been alleged that the bank authorities are refusing to accept payment stating that since IDS, 2016 has closed on 30.09.2016 the banks cannot accept the challan beyond the date.

Deposit of old demonetized notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 in small Savings scheme. I am directed to clarify that the deposits into Post Office Savings Accounts are excluded from the bar imposed therein.
Subscribers of small scheme may not be allowed to deposit old demonetised currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000, in Small Saving Schemes.

Under implemented Universal Account Number programme, seeding of Aadhaar number in UAN database of EPF members is very low (just 23% up to 25.10.2016).
The Central Government has decided to constitute teams of Additional Secretaries/Joint Secretaries/Directors – with each team consisting of up to 2 to 3 officers for each State/UT, to visit the States/UTs and report back to the Government,status of implementation of the Government’s decision relating to cancellation of the legal tender character of high denomination bank notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 denominations w.e.f. from the expiry of 08th November, 2016. These teams would visit the States allocated to them for a period of at least 2 days and tour across the State during their visit.
President is pleased to release part salary, in advance, amounting to Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand) by 23rd November 2016 from the salary for the month of November 2016 in the form of cash pay out to all Non-Gazetted employees of Central Government.
