Gross direct tax collections during April-October of the Financial Year 2012-13 was up by 6.59 percent and stood at Rs. 3,02,810 crore as against Rs. 2,84,081 crore in the same period last year. Net direct tax collections was up by 14.63 percent and stood at Rs.2,50,866 crore, as compared to Rs. 2,18,850 crore in the same period in the last fiscal.
Indirect tax collections have risen at 15.6 per cent to 2.17 lakh crore rupees in April-September, against the annual target of 27 per cent. This is mainly due to slowdown in economic activity. The excise duty collection during April-September period totalled 80,000 crore rupees, while customs duty mop up at 77,000 crore rupees, according to sources in the tax department.
Gross direct tax collection during first six months of current financial year was up by 5.87 percent at 2,72,133 crore rupees. It was over 2,57, 000 crore rupees in the same period last year. While gross collection of corporate taxes increased to 1,78,173 crore rupees from 1,75,360 crore rupees and gross collection of personal income tax was up by 14.87 percent.
Gross Direct Tax collections during April-June of the Financial Year 2012-13 was up by 6.77 percent at Rs. 1,11,182 crore as against Rs. 1,04,135 crore in the same period during the last year. Gross collection of Corporate Taxes showed an increase of 3.48 percent and stood at Rs. 70,594 crore as against Rs. 68,223 crore in the same period during last year.
Gross Direct Tax collections during April-May of the F.Y. 2012-13 was up by 3.62 percent at Rs. 52,232 Crore as against Rs. 50,407 Crore in the same period in F.Y.2011-12. While Gross Collection of Corporate Taxes showed a decline of (-) 2.82 percent during April-May of the F.Y. 2012-13 and stood at Rs. 24,329 Crore as against Rs. 25,035 Crore in the same period in F.Y. 2011-12. Gross collection of Personal Income Tax was up by 10.02 percent and stood at Rs.27,884 Crore as against Rs.25,344 Crore in the same period in F.Y. 2011-12.
The overall growth in indirect tax revenue collection during the month of May, 2012 is about 16.1% which is 5.7% higher than last month’s position. Further, the progressive growth of indirect taxes during April-May of current financial year 2012-13 is 13.3%, and in terms actual amount is Rs. 8256 crore higher than the corresponding period of last financial year.
Gross direct tax collections during April-March of the F.Y. 2011-12 was up by 13.02 percent and stood at Rs.5,90,077 crore as against Rs.5,22,104 crore in the same period in F.Y.2010-11. While gross collection of corporate taxes was up by 11.52 percent. The gross collections on this account stood at Rs.3,96,208 crore as against Rs.3,55,267 crore during the F.Y. 2010-11.
