Government of India, via the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Revenue and Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), has announced the promotion of 55 Assistant Commissioners of Income Tax (Junior Scale) to the position of Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax (Senior Time Scale). These appointments are in Pay Level-11 (Rs. 67,700–2,08,700/-) of the Pay Matrix, effective from January 1, 2025, or the date of assuming charge, whichever is later. The panel of officers listed in Notification No. 13 of 2024 does not represent a finalized seniority list, as inter-se seniority will be determined separately per guidelines issued in a 2019 Office Memorandum. Additionally, these promotions are subject to the outcome of the ongoing case (OA No. 3848/2022) before the Central Administrative Tribunal, Principal Bench, Delhi. 3. The above appointment shall be subject to the outcome of the OA No. 3848/2022 titled as Pankaj Jain & Others v/s Ministry of Finance & Others pending before Hon’ble CAT, Principal Bench, Delhi.
