FAQs

1. I am a tax professional (CA) registered on the e-Filing portal. Where can I check important updates about my clients, such as forms pending for filing and verification?

You can check such details by by logging into your e-filing account and selecting Pending Actions on your e-Filing Dashboard. The names and PANs of assesses are listed, along with a status on their request list, Pending for Filing and Pending for Verification. By clicking on the assessee name or pending item, you will be taken to the View Allpage of the assessee’s Worklist for further action.

2. In the Pending for Filing section of Worklist, what happens on clicking File Form if the filing type is revised?

If the filing type is revised, on clicking File Form you will need to select the following reasons (as applicable):

  • Revision of accounts of a company
  • Change of law e.g., retrospective amendment
  • Change in interpretation, e.g., CBDT’s circular
  • Others (Specify)

After specifying the reason(s), you can go to the page to file the form. If you select online mode for filing, you can proceed using any of these two options:

  • File a new Form
  • Edit the previously filed form

3. In the Pending for Filing section of Worklist, what happens on clicking File Form if the filing type is original?

If the filing type is original, on clicking File Form, you will directly be taken to the page where you can file the form. In online mode, you can fill, save, download and preview the filled form, as well as file the form.

If you select offline mode, you need to download the utility for the respective form, download the pre-filled XML / JSON, fill the form and generate the XML / JSON to upload to on the e-Filing portal for filing (The maximum size of a single attachment should be 5MB).

1. Overview

The service is available to CAs registered on the e-Filing portal (post-login). The e-Filing Dashboard shows a summarized view of:

  • A registered user’s profile, statistics and other activities on the portal (e.g., IT Return / Form, Grievance filing)
  • Links to the different services for a registered user’s Income Tax related activities

2. Prerequisites for availing this service

  • Registered user on the e-Filing portal with valid user ID and password

3. Step-by-Step Guide

3.1 Access the Dashboard

Step 1: Log in to the e-Filing portal using your user ID and password.

Step 2: After login, you will be taken to the e-Filing Dashboard. View the information available upfront on your e-Filing Dashboard.

Note:

  • If your mandatory profile details are not updated, you will be prompted to fill them on logging in.
  • If you choose to update your details when prompted, you will be taken to the Dashboard after you submit your details.
  • If you choose to not update your details when prompted, you can skip ahead to your Dashboard directly. You may update your details later in your profile.

The tax professional Dashboard consists of the following sections:

1Profile Snapshot:This section contains your name, user ID, Primary Mobile Number, and Primary email ID and profile completion status bar. These fields are pre-filled from My Profile.

2. Contact Details: On clicking Update, you will be taken to My ProfileContact Details (editable) page.

3. e-Filing Vault Higher Security:This feature tells you the level of security your account has, and displays it as the following, depending on your level of security:

  • Your account is not secure: This message is shown if you have not opted for any higher security option. On clicking Secure Account, you will be taken to the e-Filing Vault Higher Security
  • Your account is partially secure: This message is shown if you have opted for a higher security option only for either Login or for Reset Password. On clicking Secure Account, you will be taken to the e-Filing Vault Higher Security
  • Your account is secured: This message is shown if you have opted for a higher security option for both Login and for Reset Password. On clicking Update Secure Options, you will be taken to the e-Filing Vault Higher Security page.

4. Activity Log:The activity log displays data related to last log in, log out, last upload and last download. On clicking View All, you will see a detailed activity log.

5. Last 3 Years’ Filings:This section expands on the same page when you click it. It shows the total count of the returns and forms filed by you for a particular FY in graphical or tabular format. The section includes a Form Name dropdown. By default,  details of all forms uploaded will be displayed. Select a form from the dropdown to view the details of the particular form.

6. Pending Actions:This section expands in the same page when you click it. It shows all pending work items (in descending order) on your Worklist in tabular format. The table column heads are as follows:

  • Name of Assessee: The names of assessees who have pending actions on your Worklist are listed here (e.g., Pending for Filing or Pending for Verification categories). On clicking the assessee’s name, you will be taken to your Worklist with a filter applied on Name of Assessee.
  • Permanent Account Number of Assessee: The PANs of assessees who have pending actions on your Worklist are listed here (e.g., Pending for Filing, or Pending for Verification categories).
  • Request List: The pending request list count of each assessee will be shown here. On clicking the number, you will be taken to the View All page of this category of the assessee’s Worklist.
  • Pending for Filing: The pending for filing count of each assessee will be shown here. On clicking the number, you will be taken to the View All page of this category of the assessee’s Worklist.
  • Pending for Verification: The pending for verification count of each assessee will be shown here. On clicking the number, you will be taken to the View Allpage of this category of the assessee’s Worklist.
  • View Worklist: On clicking View Worklist, you will be taken to your Worklist.

Note: If a particular category (stated above) is not applicable to you, that category will not be shown.

7. Recent Forms Filed:This section expands in the same page when you click it. It shows details of the last four forms filed by you (form names, descriptions and filing dates) in descending order. On clicking View All, you will be taken to the View Filed Forms page.

8. Grievances: This section expands in the same page when you click it. Grievance details raised by you will be shown for the past two years only. On clicking Total Grievance Raised, a tabular structure with details of the grievances will open.

The Menu Bar

Apart from the Dashboard, the menu bar for tax professionals has the following menu items:

  • e-File:This menu provides links to file, view, and bulk upload income tax forms.
  • Pending Actions: This menu provides links to the Worklist.
  • Grievances: This menu provides links to create tickets / grievances and view their status.
  • Help:This is available both pre- and post-login. It provides guidance on topics related to e-Filing for all users (registered or not).

3.2 The e-File Menu

The e-File menu has the following menu options and sub-menus:

  • Income Tax Forms
    • This is available both pre- and post-login. It provides guidance on topics related to e-Filing for all users (registered or not).: It takes you to the File Income Tax Form page, which allows you to file your client’s income tax form
    • Income Tax Form Bulk Upload:It takes you to the Income Tax Form Bulk Upload  page, where you can upload your clients’ Income Tax Forms in bulk.
    • View Filed Forms: It takes you to the View Filed Forms page, where you can view the forms you have filed on behalf of your clients.

3.3 The Pending Actions Menu

The Pending Actions menu has the following menu options and sub-menus:

  • Worklist: It takes you to the Worklist, where you can view and respond to pending action items.

3.4 The Grievances Menu

The Grievances menu has the following menu options:

  • Submit Grievance: It takes you to the Submit Grievance page that allows you to submit a Grievance.
  • Grievance Status: It takes you to the Grievance Status page, that allows you to view the status of any grievance submitted by you previously.

3.5 The Help Menu

The Help menu provides learning art efacts for all categories of users. You can access FAQs, user manuals, videos, and other such materials in this section.

3.6 Worklist

The Worklist service enables CAs to view their pending actions, and act upon them. For this, there must be pending items in the worklist. After logging in to the e-Filing portal, click the Pending Actions > Worklist. On the Worklist, you will see the For Your Action and For Your Information tabs.

For Your Action 

The For Your Action tab contains pending items that you need to follow up on. On clicking any of the pending action items, you will be taken to the respective e-Filing service.

  • Client Request List:In this section, you will see the client requests received and pending for acceptance. Click Accept or Reject to take action.

  • Forms Request List: In this section, you will see the forms requests received and pending for acceptance (e.g., Form 29B, 10BA, 26A, 10A, 10CCB). Click Accept or Reject to take action.

  • Pending for Filing: In this section, you will see the form filing requests (e.g., Form 26A / 27BA) received, accepted, and pending for filing. Click File Form to take action.

  • Pending for Verification: In this section, you will see the forms (e.g., Form 62) pending for verification. Click Verify Form or Reject Form to take action.

  • Pending requests to add you as Authorized Representative: In this section, you will see the authorized representative requests pending for acceptance. Click Accept or Reject to take action.

For Your Information 

The For Your Information tab contains important updates related to your action items. The items can only be viewed or downloaded, not actioned. The information items are as follows:

  • Client Request Details: In this section, you will see the details of client requests made.

  • Uploaded Form Details: In this section, you will see the details of the forms assigned to / uploaded by you, and the response from the assessee.

  • Received Authorized Representative Requests: In this section, you will see the total number of Authorized Representative requests you have received along with the status and date.
