On 27th May 1999, the Government of India issued Notification No. 10 (RE-99) 1997-2002, amending the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items. The amendment pertains to the import of maize, specifically under code 100590 00.20, which is now canalized. According to the new rules, maize imports must be handled through the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and PEC Limited, two designated organizations. This measure aligns with the provisions of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, and the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002. The notification aims to streamline the import process and ensure regulated imports of maize, issued in the public interest.

NEW DELHI: 27th of May, 1999

S.O (E) – In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.3 and 4.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items , 1997-2002 published on 31st March, 1997 (RE-98) as amended from time to time, namely –

After amendment the following will read as under:
